The summer transfer window of 2026 has utterly transformed the trajectory of some of Europe’s biggest clubs – from big leaps to sizeable financial contributions, elevating a host of new narratives for the upcoming season. But some of the biggest moves were in the Premier League as teams stepped up to plug significant holes and meet new goals.
It was reported that Man City offered payment of £125m for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. City also introduced some attacking players such as Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, with Chelsea sticking with their side changes in the lead coach’s name. Arsenal have added Bruno Guimaraes, Ezri Konsa and Piero Hincapie and are letting a number of key first team players go.
Another bigtime name was Aston Villa. The club signed Nicolas Jackson, Ibrahim Mbaye, Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes, and reported the costs for Morgan Rogers’ move to Chelsea was £117 million. Tottenham also made some key signings to bolster the team, such as Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

The transfer stories have remained after the primary European circuit has been closed. Manchester United are on the receiving end of reports concerning teenage prospect JJ Gabriel, who, it is believed, has turned down a chance to depart from the club to an interested party such as Manchester City and Real Madrid. The reports illustrate the weight given to transfer deals that are not in a completed state; clubs have begun to keep an eye on opportunities when the transactions will go through later this season.
On the broader market for football, too, there has been good money. Major League Soccer teams paid a record $370 million on transfers in 2026 as more players and money moved away from Europe’s traditional hotbeds of transfer flows, according to Reuters.
