Don’t Give Up on Your Sunderland Dream, Chemsdine

Things are at a crucial moment in Chemsdine Talbi’s career at Sunderland. The 19-year-old didn’t get much of a break after speculation and drama regarding his eventual move, but after that has been played out he’s been given a new opportunity to establish himself at the Stadium of Light. However Sunderland have confirmed Talbi’s status and his interest was only with doubt after clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey revealed they wanted to call in his name.

After delivering performances of immense quality in Belgium, Talbi’s journey to Sunderland was attended by every promise of his potential, and he promptly demonstrated flashes of talent in his debut Premier League season. He had several clutch moments, such as the victory against Chelsea and the few, but excellent, goals against Newcastle and Burnley. Those displays earned him back the faith of supporters that he could prove to be one of the club’s brightest attacking spearmen.

His job however had slowly dwindled with more people bidding to be a member of the group. He was not named in the Europa League squad for Sunderland helped to fuel speculation that he would be released before the transfer window closed. However, manager Régis Le Bris said talks were ongoing and ultimately the club kept the winger.

But times now are ripe and ripe again. But injuries to players such as Romaine Mundle have opened up some opportunities on the flanks and Sunderland have had to have useful players to play in the demanding campaign ahead of them which entails Premier League, Europa League and domestic cup fixtures. Talbi brings to the table all the means of production needed to produce if he gets his minutes: pace, work rate, and creativity.

The 21-year-old is already bringing everyone into witness of his ability. The Black Cats were successful in the League Cup against Sunderland thanks to a brilliant finish from him, which booked a place in the next round. The right move from the player who wanted to earn and compete for a seat instead of taking it for granted.

Talbi’s career at Sunderland doesn’t end there. This season is an opportunity for him to raise his profile, gain trust and a place in Sunderland’s promising future rather than a bottomless pit of recent failures.
