Gabriel Jesus Opens a New Barcelona Chapter After Arsenal Exit

It now appears as though Gabriel Jesus has a new chapter to add to his career, after departing Arsenal to join FC Barcelona under a contract until the end of the June 2029 season. The Brazilian attacker has done the deal now and it was estimated to cost around €10 million/£8.6m. The move marked the end of four-year tenure in North London and a move to LaLiga for Bereta, who played Premier League football with Manchester City and Arsenal.

Jesus played a total of 123 times for Arsenal, from Manchester City, during the 2022 season, with 32 goals and 22 assists. He played in Arsenal for a short time but suffered injuries along the way, including an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in January 2025. He came back later that season and appeared in 14 Premier League matches – helping to put the Gunners in the 2025/26 title for the final time.

Since the departure of RB Leipzig wing-back Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona turned their sights on Jesus. The forward’s first impression in his new club was memorable in his debut win of the Champions League campaign at the hands of Feyenoord on 9th September, when he put his club onto the scoreboard in the 5-1 defeat. He subsequently required a few more minutes in the offside area as the Catalan capital took a 7-2 victory over Racing Santander in LaLiga on Sep. 16.

Stephen also raised speculation after Jesus referenced how Jesus’ last few weeks at the club was dealt with at his current football club. Jesus’ words on which side was a surprise to Mikel Arteta and he assured that he had spoken with the player prior to the transfer.

Jesus is given a chance to carve out a new niche for himself in a new league of attacking stars, and continue to build his form and confidence in a new lineup for Barcelona under Hansi Flick.
