Chelsea Sign Gabriel’s Wonderkid Cousin Denner Evangelista

Denner Evangelista from Corinthians is the latest prospect to join Chelsea, bringing their young sideshow to the team to India for another thrilling addition to their young academy. The 18-year-old left-back has added a long-term deal with Blues until 2034 and will start at Cobham Next Gen, the club’s feeder academy for their top squad with Chelsea.

Denner’s arrival is unusual, given his family ties to Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães. The pair are said to be cousins, though Denner has now started to forge his own career path which could well land him in England football.

The shift has already been planned out prior to fully completing it. In 2025, the club was able to agree terms with Corinthians, but then waited until the club’s international, Denner, was 18. Initial fee is estimated at around €10m, which may possibly be supplemented with a performance-based additional €4m.

Denner joined Corinthians at age 13 and went through the Academy before making his debut. He left a strong mark at his youthful age and especially in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior or Copinha. In the event, he netted by recording three goals and an assist, including his final goal as Corinthians was a runner-up.

That’s why it was so fitting that the Southies club can continue with their policy in looking and signing all the best young talent from the south, Denner has joined them. The Blues are not eager to put the teenager on the first team, but opt to develop the boy over time within the system, with his ability to blossom in the future may bring a chance for advancement.
