The Mismanaged Final Hours

Everton’s summer transfer window wrapped up in a catastrophic way, like a whole chain of talks fell apart right before the deadline. After they said yes to moving out a few important attacking pieces, the club tried to scramble into a last minute spending burst to restock its thin forward line. But small procedural blunders, medical back and forth, and quick no’s meant the recruitment crew ended up looking pretty exposed, and honestly it felt like one of the most chaotic deadline days in recent Premier League memory.
Marquee Deals Collapse
The main goal was to land Folarin Balogun from Monaco, though an arrangement around forty million pounds unraveled after Everton questioned the medical information, and then the striker simply declined the contract at the eleventh hour. A second attempt involved Lamine Camara, but it got hit too. Monaco moved away from the Chelsea negotiations to focus on Balogun, and in the end it left everyone stranded, with no one walking away with a deal.
Late Rejections
Everton then tried to pivot toward other forward options but the results were basically the same disappointment, over and over. An approach to Manchester United about Joshua Zirkzee on a loan-to-buy setup was rejected straight away. At the same time- a potential agreement with Aston Villa for Tammy Abraham crumbled when the player declined the chance to move to Goodison Park.
Time Runs Out
In the final stretch, the frantic changes didn’t manage to flip anything. A forty-five million pound offer for West Ham forward Taty Castellanos was blocked because the selling club couldn’t find someone else in time, since there just wasn’t enough clock. Then, a possible deal for Rennes winger Ibrahim Salah also fell apart. The paperwork couldn’t be completed due to administrative delays, so Everton ended up heading into the next campaign with a severely depleted squad, without any real breathing room.
