The Chicago Fire have inked the Danish winger to a new Designated Player deal that will last until the 2027-28 campaign, thereby putting him on the roster as one of the club’s key players. New Arrival to Key Player
Zinckernagel came to Club Brugge before the 2025 season even began and made a significant impact right away. He scored double-doubles (10 goals and 10 assists) in his first season, and then scored 15 goals and added 15 assists the following year. He was named to the All-Star team and also scored and assisted in 2026 and was in the All-Star game again. He also had the first fire-scoring touch in the game since 2008.
Coach and football director Gregg Berhalter stressed the ‘consistency’ that led to the new contract.
