Yamal inspires victory

FC Barcelona held onto that spotless top spot in La Liga, after a difficult but still 4-2 win over Levante UD, at the Estadi Ciutat de València. Lamine Yamal again, was the difference maker you notice straight away, scoring two times to keep the current title holders still perfect, five wins from five. This result puts Hansi Flick’s group right at the top, with a three point buffer over Real Madrid, like it’s not even close at the moment.
Early dominance established
Barcelona seemed to hit the target pretty early on. Xavi Espart opened the scoring in the 5th minute, and you could feel the tone change. Then in the 19th minute, Lamine Yamal doubled it, finishing off a simple but sharp moment, after Raphinha played him a square pass, and Yamal just slid it into the open goal area. Not done either, because shortly after the restart, he converted a 48th minute penalty, after he was taken down in the box. By then his league tally sat at six goals for the season so far.
Resistance and resolution
Levante didn’t just lie down in the second half, they tried to come back, and they did it in a way that was fueled by a few defensive missteps. Iván Romero pulled one back in the 79th minute- then Roger Brugué added another in the 88th, turning a two-goal gap into a single goal situation and making the ending feel nervous. Still, substitute Karim Adeyemi ended the drama late, sealing it in stoppage time. He finished off a dynamic solo run, and that made sure Barcelona left with all three points, for the Catalan side, no questions.
Historical milestone reached
That performance against Levante also tied Lamine Yamal to a pretty rare La Liga record. He’s now got three separate games where he scored twice, all within the first five matches of the season. The level matches something Lionel Messi previously put down in the 2012-13 campaign. Across all competitions, Yamal has now reached seven goals overall, which underlines how key he is in keeping Barcelona’s perfect start alive, and moving forward.
