Jürgen Klopp will receive scans for both Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala after his first game in charge of Germany finished in a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands on Thursday. (ESPN)

Klopp appeared to get off to an ideal beginning when Felix Nmecha scored for Germany in the 32nd minute. However, the Netherlands, under new boss Xavi, levelled late through Cody Gakpo to leave both teams to split the points in their first UEFA Nations League outing. (UEFA)

At the other end, the former Liverpool boss will now be sweating on whether Arsenal’s Havertz and Bayern’s Musiala will be fit. Musiala pulled out late with a muscle injury during the warm-up, while Havertz lasted just 30 minutes before also being replaced for a ‘muscular problem’. (ESPN)

The two are now both in an MRI, said the Reds boss on RTL. “I hope that we get the diagnosis [Thursday] evening. That’s not good now; I hope it’s nothing serious, that the boys are out for us. But they will be back in relatively short order, I hope.”

Klopp said that Nick Woltemade or Jonathan Burkardt could be summoned for the following game against Greece on Sunday. I wasn’t nervous about my first game as Germany’s national coach,” Klopp said. “It just felt normal. It was like muscle memory, being back in the manager’s role.” (ESPN)

When asked if he got to enjoy the moment, Klopp said he enjoys it more when his team is 4-0 up, and the game goes into extra time. As coaches, it’s our job to be 100 per cent there and try to find a solution where I can help. Nobody has to think about me before this game – it would be weird to stand out there and ask where the pitch is? We had a fantastic game.

He said the game was a reflection of his first match in charge of Liverpool, when he had little time to train with his new players.
