Manchester United found their level at Old Trafford, coming back to find a 5–2 triumph over Ipswich Town in their first Premier League match at home. Ipswich began strong and were in the winning column with a Leif Davis first-half goal. But in the first half, the hosts came out with a resurgence of form when a Bruno Fernandes own goal levelled the score.
It would take a while for United to take a lead after half-time. Harry Maguire’s shot was taken in by Jacob Greaves and would have ended up in his own net, but it went Marcus Maguire’s way this time, and it was in goal. Fernandes followed up with a penalty before completing a hat-trick with his third goal of the afternoon. He was the main attraction of the show as they were always able to make themselves at home in the final third and emerged as a helping influence during the fortunes that turned of the half-time period for United.
It was another show-stopper from Bryan Mbeumo as he struck the large back of his own net to level the scores in United’s fifth goal. It was a late consolation for Ipswich with Chuba Akpom’s goal, but the contest was still well out of their reach.

The win came particularly handy when United were beaten at their own sport early, but responded with five goals without conceding before Ipswich scored again. Opta added that Fernandes’ hat-trick was his second such one in the Premier League and they had both been scored in the first home league clash of a season for United.
The game was a lot of entertainment for the football fans and had a lot to be discussed from the finishers of Fernandes to Mbeumo’s zinger and the manner in which United turned the game around after conceding first. The contest proved to be an entertaining affair in the Premier League in the 5–2 contest, and it gave the club a season’s first victory.
