Jürgen Klopp has imposed his first real order as new manager of the German national team, naming an unprecedented 44-man provisional squad for UEFA Nations League fixtures in September and October. The Qatar World Cup 2026 exit of Germany and the sacking of Julian Nagelsmann cleared the way for the former Liverpool man to purge the squad back to the extreme. As real game time for the 36-year-old incumbent, Klopp unorthodoxly picked 16 debutants in a squad for the next rounds of the Nations League matches.

For two games in the 24-man group against the Netherlands and Greece in Amsterdam and Augsburg, and a further two matches in the 20-man group against Serbia and Greece in Munich and Thessaloniki, he said the squad is to get a look at as many as he can to throw the fridge, explained the German boss. This is a longer version than the only group, 44 players, so you get a lot of players that have a chance. It is an extended version of an international, so the international players, and it is an extended version, an extended trial period to give many players a chance to the next international window up to the European Championships 2028. For the time being, it is an extended trial period.

The build-up players included Unps’ Vitali Janelt and Younes Ebnoutealib. Returning internationals Marc-André ter Stegen, who conceded the starting goalkeeper shirt, J6, Klop, and Toni Stober, say Alex Mus is on for Man City. Kalvin Plu, who found great form at Geer City, was excluded. Wearing the captain’s armband, Joshua Kimmich advanced into the central midfield position.
