Barcelona retains lead despite draw as Yamal scores again. Despite being held to a draw in their first match after the international break, when they were playing at home against Girona over the weekend, there are plenty of reasons for optimism at the Nou Camp following the exploits of the club’s star prospect this season. At just 16-years-old, the youngster has added another two to his season’s goal count as his team, led by Xavi Hernández, won 4-2 away against Levante in the Ciutat de Valencia.

Hansi Flick’s side controlled play from the start, with defender Xavi Espart scoring his first goal for the club in the fifth minute to give them the lead. A quick second followed, with Yamal on target for the first time in the game after unselfish play from Raphinha to double the lead just five minutes later. The 19-year-old Spaniard then rounded off the scoring with his second and third goal of the night from the penalty spot a little over an hour into the game.
That strike marked him out as the first Barcelona player to score three braces in the first five games of a La Liga season, and level with teammates Raphinha, Kylian Mbappé and Sergio Camello on three goals for the season. Barcelona looked destined to cruise to victory until two late Levante goals clawed them back into contention. Ivn Romero slotted a loose pass from the visitors’ home in the 79th minute, then Roger Brugu scored nine minutes later to close to within a single goal, until Adeyemi settled the game away in injury time.
